Normally the Main Character in a book is the good person but not in Cracked. Meda is bad, a monster, but a hilarious monster. I don’t think I have ever laughed so much throughout a book. Meda’s inner dialogue was brilliant and I loved her struggle between being good and bad.

Here are a few parts I took from book:

I consider the many tools at my disposal, eyeing his large blood-splattered frame, and settle on my weapon of choice – one so infrequently used I need to dust it off first.
My eyes fill with tears. “Wha–” I swallow hard “– what were those things?”
“Demons.” Thanks, Einstein. I got that part. I let a tear trickle over.
He hurries to reassure me. “Don’t cry – I’ll protect you.”
Humiliating. Absolutely humiliating.

The Secondary Characters where just as valuable to the story. My favourite been Jo, she was so angry at the world that it gave Meda so much ammunition for hilarious smart commentary (That went on inside her head) it had me laughing so hard. Uri was sweet, he was a kid who got to hang out with superman - superman being Chi. It was cute.

Overall the story captured me not for its plot or world building but because of Meda and her inability to feel compassion for others. Just hilarious. If you want a fun read that will make you laugh and smile then cracked is the one for you.

Red Queen

Red Queen - Victoria Aveyard Review of the Red Queen

Rating: 5 stars

To sum up the Red Queen I would say the hunger games meet Games of Throne.

Mare Barrow reminded me of Katniss living in the slums. She stole to survive and her family and best friend Kilcorn come first. But when Mare gets a job in the palace her powers are ignited and she’s brought into the world of Silvers. This is where the story reminded me of Games of throne. The lies deceit and the game the royals played were hard to keep up with and Mare is a pawn in the game, which she doesn’t even know she’s playing. She starts to fall for Marven her betrothed yet she still has feelings for Cal the future King. Her feelings make her judgement off and for it she pays the ultimate price.

The world building was breath-taking and the author’s ability to keep us blind to the truth was very well played out. I didn’t trust anyone and when I did I would second guess myself but I couldn’t have fully predicated who would betray mare.

The rebels add to the tension already in the story and I found my hands clammy in fear of certain rebels been found out, yet once again nothing could have prepared me for the ending

I look forward to Book two and mostly Cal. He’s strong, fierce and his loyalty to the crown is to be admired. He is a warrior, his abilities had me transfixed on him. Just loved him no matter where he stands in this war.

I would highly recommend this to all fantasy lovers.

My Tethered Soul

My Tethered Soul - Dorothy Dreyer
Rating: 5 stars

I would like to thank the author for giving me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

My Thethered Soul is the second book to the Reapers Rite. I loved my Sisters Reaper and knew I had to read My Thethered Soul.

Once again I loved Zadie. But her relationship with Gavin just doesn't do it for me. I love love Chase he is so much hotter, with his cool gifts and his serious ways. His brother Hunter is pretty cool too. But the award for most entertaining character goes to Liluria, her dry comments had me laughing. She's the main thing that holds this group together and her patience are tested, she doesn't just have one sister no she has two. Mara is back and so is her powers. She doesn't stick out for me much, I was so absorbed in reading every little piece with Zadie and Chase. And in this book we get to learn why Chase always wears the trench coat.

The book was full of action and never stopped. I don't know why but it freaked me out when Zadie was sleepwalking to the house, espeically when when she goes into the secret room. There I got the shivers again.

Overall a great read, with a lot of suprises like Zadies mum. :)

I would highly recommend this to all fantasy/paranormal fans.

The Watcher

The Watcher - Lisa Voisin Review of The Watcher
3.5 stars

The Watcher is story about angels and demons, but I love how it’s different than others I have read. It’s not your simple forbidden love, but the seven deadly sins come into play and for me I just loved that. I know we only see two in play in this book, but I loved the angle the author came from making it stand out for me more than other books of its kind.
I loved some of the descriptions that Mia gives us while she is in awe of Michael’s wings, or the sound of his voice. I could almost feel what she was saying, it was very well explained.
The plot itself was really good it wasn’t just forbidden love, but the twist at the end with Damiel was just brilliant and one I didn’t expect, and Mia’s understanding of how envy worked really blow me away, it was great thinking and I loved it.

But in saying all that the reason I gave this book only 3.5 stars was the characters. I just for the life of me couldn’t connect with Mia or Michael. Mia was understanding in so many ways, that I found myself disagreeing with her. I couldn’t picture her at all, and I felt nothing really for her. As for Michael I felt he was weak and his love for Mia overshadowed everything else. The one Character I loved and she wasn’t in it much was Michael’s sponsor Arielle, I found she had a strong voice, she was willing to get the job done, and most of the explaining of what was going on came from her. She was a character that I could connect with and see. Also Heather and Fiona just seemed selfish to me. But this is just my opinion and mine alone.

While reading some of the other reviews I see a lot of people compared this book to Hush, Hush and I didn’t like that book at all I think I rated it like two stars. So for lovers of Hush, Hush and Forbidden love with Angels - you may love The Watchers.

I received this book from the Author for an honest review.

Fractured Immortal

Fractured Immortal - E.L. Wicker Fractured Immortal

Rating: 4.5 star

www.ultimatefantasybooks.com

Firstly I have to say that this book brought up more emotions then I expected. Fractured Immortal is a dark tale. It’s all told from the perspective of Ilia, a vampire whose life has been pretty sad. Often in stories like this you get to hear what they lost, but this book goes deeper into details and I found myself on more than one occasion fighting the tears.
When Ilia was mortal she was unmarried and pregnant, her mother had two butchers remove the baby from Ilia’s body not really caring for her daughter’s life, the detail was gruesome and so very sad, but overall extremely well written. This is what started to shape Ilia into the vampire she ended up being.
Her existence is in isolation as she searches the globe for the man responsible for killing her family and loved ones. Yet she carries her pain with her never letting it go. She is broken yet a fighter. When she gets news that Sol maybe returning to her hometown, she returns there, and we get to see more of her life, and it’s all very painful. From the person she loved, to the memories of her childhood, it’s dark and sad.
Yet when we get introduced to Lana and Lucas, we see a kindness, and a little bit of weight seems to be lifted off her shoulders, until Kyle steps into the picture.

Now Kyle he is an onion – he has layers upon layers, upon layers, upon layers …. Complex character. Kyle had me hating him, and then loving him. As the story went on I felt so sorry for him, then went back to loving his sarcasm, he threw me so much throughout the book, that even now that I’m finished, I realised I wanted a happy ever after ending for him. He really deserves it. His relationship with Ilia is funny at the start its push shove and fuelled with anger and love, yet once again as the story progresses it just becomes another complicated aspect to Ilia’s life. The part when he takes Ilia to see Julia’s resting place, I cried. It was the saddest moment in the book and it made me look at Kyle once again in a different light.
Nat is the other love interest and from the moment Ilia bumps into him you see an attraction, but their attraction has a reason behind it. Don’t want to say too much on that, you just have to read the book to find out. But I loved it.  And as for the ending…. It had my mouth gaping wide open, while I shook my head cursing the author when I realised the second book isn’t out yet. I needed to get to Ilia and tell her… well I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s pretty huge.

Maggie the witch. I just LOVED HER, every moment she was in the book she had me grinning from ear to ear. She’s quick with her words, she doesn’t think just acts (that is referring to what she did to Nat) couldn’t believe it yet I couldn’t stop laughing. I just loved her.
There was so many great characters even down to Max and Kate the two young witches, and Alex who’s Nat’s friend and kind of side kick. Each character had their own story and each one was interesting. I think the author developed them very well.

The character I hated the most wasn’t Sol funny enough or Seleana for that matter, it was Victor he’s vicious and cruel, yet I know in book two we will be seeing lots of him.

Overall the book was very well written, it flowed well, and kept me engaged the whole way through. I loved each character and found them well developed. I would recommend this book to all paranormal, fantasy, romance or dark fantasy readers.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Sixteen-year-old Zadie’s first mistake was telling the boy she liked she could bring her dead sister back to life. Her second mistake was actually doing it.

When Zadie accidentally messes with the Reaper’s Rite that should have claimed her sister Mara, things go horribly wrong. Mara isn’t the same anymore—Zadie isn’t even sure she’s completely human, and to top it off, a Reaper is determined to collect Mara’s soul no matter what. Now Zadie must figure out how to defeat her sister’s Reaper, or let Mara die … this time for good.

I must admit I read this book a long time ago, and really should have done my review straight away, but things got in the way. Anyway I rated this book five stars and now I remember why. Zadie brings her sister Mara back to life, but really it was her time to go, so when she comes back she isn’t the same person. I personally would have run a mile from Mara at the start, her staring and saying nothing was freaking me out to no end, but Zadie loved her and would do anything to make sure her sister returned to her full normal self.
With the help of a witch lady – who I just loved, her dry sarcastic tongue had me smiling and her grandson Chase (Who in my opinion I would pick) O and we have Gavin the other love interest, I just can’t seem to warm to him, even though he plays a vital role in Zadie improving her powers. So they are all on a mission to get rid of the reaper that is threating to take her sisters soul.

The story moves fast, and the character development was great. The author had a way of giving you information about reapers without an overload. I am looking forward to reading the second book.

Hopeless

Hopeless - Colleen Hoover I haven't finished this book and right now I just need to take a breather. I have never in all the books I have read felt so emotional. I am on 67% on my kindle and my heart has dropped into my shoes. This book is what's in the title hopeless that's how I feel right now.

I can't even say in words what I feel. I just need to take a step back and try and distract myself from this story. It's too heart breaking right now.

Fire and Fangs

Fire and Fangs - Josephine Mc Nabb Review of Fire and Fangs

Rating: 4 stars

First off I would like to point out that I do not like hot and heavy scenes and that’s why Fire and Fangs lost a star from me, as I skimmed any parts with heavy sex scenes. (Heavy to me could be light to others) this is my opinion and mine alone. :)

So moving on:
Danni and Keri are the two main characters, and they are very unlike any characters I have read before. They are out spoken; strong and always speak their minds. Yet in ways they are very very different.

Danni for me has serious anger issues but she struggles with her powers and it rises when her temper does, which is often, yet I loved her attitude it made me laugh throughout the story.

Keri on the other hand has serious issues and they revolve around Vampires. So when the Nest Master Damon’s life is at risk the two women are called in to figure out who is trying to kill him the story kicks in with lots of drama and action. With Keri’s past issues, being around a vampire that she is drawn to brings everything back up for her.

Throughout the story there was plenty of action and lots of drama. Which I loved and trying to figure out who is trying to kill Mater Damon keeps the plot going. The romance story - like I said before was heavy but yet enjoyable.

Overall a great read one I would recommend to vampire lovers with strong female roles (and heavy sex scenes).

I look forward to book two.

Touch

Touch - Melissa Haag Review of Touch

Star Rating: 5 stars

www.reviewoffantasy.com

First off I am a huge fan of Melissa Haag’s work, my number one book being Hope(less). In all my reviews Clay is always my number one man that is until I met Morik. (I’m Sorry Clay) but Morik is so so different.

Tessa is cursed any boy she touches she can see her future with them, she can see her children, her life. Sounds great except all the men die young.

A curse passed down to each generation, a curse that kills if you don’t pick your man by the age of seventeen.

The idea behind the book was amazing and it sucked me in from the start and then Morik arrives and my knees went weak. HIS EYES, HIS EYES, HIS EYES just fascinated me and his words, actions, patience and kindness had me falling for him far quicker than Tessa, but she has her reasons. As a character she was equally amazing for her strength and compassion, and her and Moriks story was beautiful.

There was one character that I wanted to smack, I just couldn’t understand Tessa’s selfish mother she grated on my nerves a lot. But we had Tessa’s grandmother to replace the mother role.

Overall I adored this book and would highly recommend it.
